Discovering the medieval village of Le Castellet

The Appart Hôtel Le Domaine de Manon, which is a few minutes from the village, will be your home port to visit this beautiful village, an institution in the Var.

Coming back from the Var coast, next to Bandol and Sanary-sur-Mer, stands Le Castellet. It is a pretty medieval fortified village built at the top of a hill at more than 250 meters that deserves to be put down to discover its assets.

The medieval castle around which the village is built is a historical and highly visited monument in the region. For its historical and artistic interest, it is listed as a historical monument in France. You will admire its defensive towers and imposing facade that held the invaders in the distance.

Another remarkable site is the Trou de Madame where you can admire the panorama. This hole is a massive stone door from which one has a view of the surrounding landscape and its undulating relief. According to legend, it was from this hole that the ladies awaited the return of their knights.

You will enjoy walking through the cobbled streets of the village. This pleasure will be double when you meet its inhabitants. They will not fail to tell you about their pride in belonging to this land.

Don't be surprised to be surrounded by green nature, as the village is set on a hill. The hills of Le Castellet extend over an area of more than 2000 hectares.

For the pleasure of your taste buds, do not hesitate to visit the olive oil cooperative to taste one of the best olive oils in the world, as its inhabitants like to remind you.
In the same vein, a short stop at La Miellerie is necessary to give in to the temptation of products harvested by people who are passionate about their profession. Castellet is located in the great wine-growing region of the Vallée du Rhône Sud. It is the land of famous wines such as Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas or Lirac. Visits to cellars and tastings are often organised.

It is also the home of the famous Paul Ricard circuit, where so many sporting achievements have been achieved and where great motorsport champions have been born.

On returning from your visit to Le Castellet and its rich heritage, come and relax in the relaxing setting of Domaine de Manon. You will find your ideal accommodation through the many studios and apartments of the residence. And the journey is not over, because this time, the restaurant Le Nohma will invite you to discover Varoise gastronomy.
