Visit Toulon

What if you took the time to discover Toulon, which is only 30 km from the Domaine de Manon?

Toulon has long suffered from a cold image of being the first military port city in France. But Toulon is not just a port from which people board a huge ferry to Corsica, and there are not only army frigates to admire in the harbour. Toulon is also a very pretty Provençal city if you take the time to wander around a bit.

What to see, what to do in Toulon?

The first thing to do is to explore the old historical centre dating back to the Middle Ages, and get lost in its maze of small streets. You will inevitably end up in a charming little square, a little hidden, such as Place Louis Blanc and its Saint-François-de-Paul church, Place Raimu and its statues of Caesar and Panisse competing for a game of cards, Place du Globe, Place Puget for a drink when the sun comes....

Fans of churches and sacred art will not fail to visit the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds, the stunning Saint-Louis church, which looks like a Roman temple, and the Saint-François-de-Paul church.

Cours Lafayette will delight lovers of fresh produce, a large market is organised every morning, except on Mondays, from 7:30 to 12:30. The district around rue des Arts is full of art galleries and concept stores.

In the upper city

Although less picturesque, the upper city also has many attractive features, including its high Haussmann-style buildings, the immense Place de la Liberté, the Victor Hugo Square theatre and France's largest neoclassical Opera House.

The Mourillon district

Le Mourillon is a real small village in the middle of the city, with its beach and access to small coves such as the Mître, the Battery Basse, the Lido, the Mistral, the Source, the Pines... In the sunny days, do not forget your swimsuits!

A 360° view

Finally, to admire the city from above, and the magnificent bay at its feet, take the cable car with its small glass floor to the top of Mount Faron, the ascent and then the 360° view are really worth it!
